Spanksgiving is in the air! It’s been a bumpy year with a lot of ups and downs. We have some critical news to share, but before we get into all of that, we wanted to thank you all for eight years of epic support and are proud to say we are still going strong, which is a win unto itself. The team had its annual gathering, courtesy of Allie Eve Knox, who prepared an epic feast.
Some scary stuff went into law in 2024 and 2025. Recently, some states have begun to ban content produced in or by their residents, and when verification was done with IDs from those states. Right now, this is taking effect in Alabama and North Carolina. Krystal Davis kindly shared an email she received from one of her platforms.
Unfortunately, laws have a tendency to be contagious, which means that there is a high risk that this kind of policy could take effect in other states as well. Needless to say, we are working closely with the FSC, other institutions, and lawmakers to help to help protect the livelihoods of sex workers—the majority of them young women.
And that’s not all. When Krystal Davis tried to share about this on her X account, her post quickly disappeared.
Even though it’s back, the damage is done. The post’s viral momentum was lost because social media posts rely on performance algorithms that help spread the word. When a post is censored for a few days, it might not sound like a long time, but it can be devastating for visibility.
Whether this happened due to a particular part reporting it or it is an active effort by the platforms themselves, both are terrifying and a sign that censorship has become dangerously easy.
For those who were (un)lucky enough to read Animal Farm in school, one of the most effective tactics for guiding the public is to control information. This can happen when the public naturally forgets and moves on to the next meme, but it can also be accomplished by removing content slowly, over time. Whether by intention or due to servers getting loaded with data, the adult and crypto industry is no stranger to being deplatformed.
For that reason, we have started the process of aggregating our content so that it can be accessible on spankchain.com, where it can live forever. To combat recent censorship efforts, we have expanded our archiving project and our site build. You will have access to Spankmates, long form articles, and critical information relevant to the adult and crypto industries.
In addition, our Zine, which features current topics, interviews, and pragmatic guides from industry experts, will be dropped twice as often and feature live updates that you can access at any time.
